Founded in 1934 by Professor Alfred Whitney Griswold, the Yale Political Union, or the YPU, is the oldest and the largest collegiate debate society in America. We have a rich history of hosting distinguished guests, including Ronald Reagan, Joe Biden, and Milton Friedman, for parliamentary debates every Tuesday. Our Debate Floor is home to ideas and philosophies from across the political spectrum, with our 200+ members being committed to evaluating principles both foundational to their beliefs and pertinent to contemporary American politics.
